2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the NewHere community platform
• Display your posts and replies to other community members
• Process AI-powered features (Ask AI, Translate) via Google Gemini API
• Send push notifications you have opted into
• Improve and maintain the Service
• Respond to support requests

3. AI Features & Third-Party Processing

NewHere uses Google Gemini AI to power the "Ask AI" and "Translate" features. When you use these features, the content of your post is sent to Google's Gemini API for processing. This processing is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We do not store AI-generated responses beyond what is displayed in the app.

4. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a hosted database service. Data is stored on servers located in the European Union. Supabase's privacy practices are governed by their Privacy Policy.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We only share data with:

• Supabase: For database storage and authentication
• Google: For AI processing when you use Ask AI or Translate features
• Vercel: For hosting the application
• Law enforcement: When required by applicable law

6. Public Content

Posts and replies you create on NewHere are visible to all registered users of the platform. Do not post personally identifiable information you do not wish to be seen by other users.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

As a user in the European Union, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data will be deleted within 30 days. Posts and replies may be anonymised rather than deleted to maintain community integrity.

NewHere is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us immediately.

10. Cookies

NewHere uses local storage (not traditional cookies) to save your login session and app preferences (such as dark/light mode). No advertising cookies or tracking pixels are used.

11. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication is handled securely via Supabase Auth. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on the app. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
